One of the standout moments of the Duvauchelle Show was the presentation of a Royal Agricultural Society Medal to Maryn Curry, recognising her extraordinary contribution to the event over more than 50 years.
For half a century, Maryn has been a familiar and respected figure in the indoor domestic produce section, competing, supporting and shaping the character of the show. This year was no exception. She entered once again and walked away with several prizes, proving that passion and skill do not fade with time.
Standing proudly beside her during the presentation was her husband Graeme, sharing in a moment that symbolised not only personal achievement but also the enduring spirit of rural shows in New Zealand.
Agricultural and community shows have long been central to rural life, providing a space where knowledge, skills and relationships are passed between generations. Maryn Curry’s recognition is a reminder that behind every successful event are volunteers and participants who quietly give decades of commitment to their community.
