You are invited to share your questions and concerns about the planned withdrawal of copper services by Chorus on Banks Peninsula. As a resident, you know that mobile coverage is limited, and some remote communities rely on landlines. Due to the age of the technology providing fixed-line phone services, Chorus will retire it in phases starting in 2025.

You will need to switch to a new phone service using different technology by 31 March 2025 if you want to keep your landline and number. Options include wireless or satellite services. Alternatively, you can choose to disconnect your services.

Chorus will attend the Banks Peninsula Board’s Information Session on 25 November in Akaroa to explain this change. I have created a survey to gather your concerns so I can advocate for you effectively. Please fill in the online survey to ensure your questions are addressed in the workshop. Let me know if you have any questions.
