ANZAC Day Service Akaroa 2024
On this day, we pay homage to the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our nation with dedication and selflessness. We remember those who fought on the shores of Gallipoli, in the deserts of North Africa, in the jungles of the Pacific and in the fields of Europe. Their sacrifices have left an indelible mark on our existence as a nation.
ANZAC Day is a time to honour not only those who gave their lives in service but also those who returned home, bearing the physical and emotional scars of conflict. We also remember and honour those men and women who stayed home and provided their services in nation-building. Let us remember the families and communities who suffered separation and loss.
ANZAC Day is not just about the past; it is also about the present and the future. It is a reminder of our collective responsibility to strive for peace and justice in our world.
Key Message of the day
No matter which colour the skin is. When a wound is inflicted, it bleeds and the colour is always red. And when a bullet leaves a gun, it does not see who it penetrates through.
Their sacrifice unites us and reminds us that the world needs peace more than it has ever required.
Lest we forget and pray for peace and love.
