Background
Last year, when I conducted a community survey regarding telecommunications infrastructure, Jo Seddon (Community Relations Lead at Chorus) and Nathan Beaumont (Head of Corporate Affairs at Chorus) presented to the Banks Peninsula Community Board.
Chorus stated that it is committed to working collaboratively with communities. They have assured the board that no one who had a landline service prior to 2001 will be left without a connection. These landline services will be maintained until an alternative solution is provided by Chorus. Additionally, if anyone has not yet received any official notification, it means that Chorus is not retiring your services at this stage. (You can watch this statement from 1:36:00 onwards in the meeting recording.)

Current Status
Despite these assurances, it has since come to my knowledge that that Chorus has indeed been shutting down services in some areas, leaving several members of our community in a state of uncertainty. Many residents are now experiencing disruptions to their landline or internet services, with limited or no communication from the provider about the changes.
Over the past few weeks, I have been receiving numerous enquiries from residents who are affected and struggling to find clear information or assistance.
If you are currently experiencing disconnection of phone or internet services, or are having difficulty contacting anyone for support, I would appreciate hearing from you directly. Please use the following link to share the issues you are facing, so I can follow up and advocate on your behalf:
