Diamond Harbour Volunteer Fire Brigade
Diamond Harbour Volunteer Fire Brigade – Locals You Can Count On
The Diamond Harbour Volunteer Fire Brigade is made up of local people who volunteer their time to keep the community safe. The station is at 89 Marine Drive, Diamond Harbour, and the team is always ready to respond when help is needed.
What They Do
The brigade deals with all kinds of emergencies, including:
-
House and bush fires
-
Car crashes and road accidents
-
Medical emergencies
-
Search and rescue operations
-
Storms, floods, and other civil defence events
They also help teach people about fire safety – how to prevent fires and what to do if one happens.
The People Behind the Siren
Everyone in the Diamond Harbour brigade is a volunteer. They live and work in the community but are always ready to drop what they’re doing when the siren goes off. They train regularly so they can respond quickly and safely.
Many local employers support their staff who volunteer. These businesses make it easier for people to leave work when there’s an emergency. Some of them include:
-
Anglican Diocese of Christchurch
-
Casa Paella Ltd
-
Connetics
-
Warren and Mahoney
…and others who proudly support the brigade.
How to Get Involved
If you live nearby and want to know more, you can visit the station or go along on a training night to see what they do.
You can also contact Fire and Emergency New Zealand if you’re interested in becoming a volunteer.
Even if you don’t join, you can still help by learning about fire safety, supporting local events, and thanking the volunteers for their service.
Why It Matters
Diamond Harbour is a small coastal community surrounded by hills and bush. When emergencies happen, it’s the local fire brigade that gets there first.
These volunteers are friends, neighbours, and family members who give their time to protect others. Their work helps keep everyone in Diamond Harbour safe — and that’s something worth celebrating.
