Declaration of Final Results – 2025 Christchurch City Council Elections
Declaration of Final Results – 2025 Christchurch City Council Elections
The final results of the 2025 Christchurch City Council elections have been officially declared, confirming the city’s leadership for the next three years.
Phil Mauger has been re-elected as Mayor of Christchurch, receiving 60,137 votes (55.96%), while Sara Templeton followed with 40,533 votes (37.72%). The election saw a voter turnout of 37.8%, with 107,471 votes cast from 284,225 registered electors across the city.
Alongside the mayoral race, councillors have been elected to represent Christchurch’s 16 wards. Three ward seats were uncontested, with sitting councillors re-elected unopposed. The final declaration marks the official completion of the vote count and verification process.
The Christchurch City Council has extended its thanks to everyone involved in the democratic process – from candidates and election officials to the residents who took the time to vote. These results set the stage for the new Council term, as community representatives continue working on key issues such as infrastructure resilience, environmental management, housing, and local economic development.
Local government plays a vital role in shaping the everyday life of Christchurch residents, and the 2025 election results highlight both continuity and renewed commitment to addressing community priorities.
